Happy Birthday Mike!

Brody and I decided to throw Mike a little surprise birthday dinner to celebrate his big day. Last year, we didn't do a whole lot of celebrating because I was fresh from the hospital with my broken back, so I figured that we owed him a little more of a celebration this time around. I reserved some tables at one of our favorite family friendly restaurants, ordered a tasty banana cake, and sent out an e-vite to some of our good friends. Brody insisted that he wouldn't come unless *his* friends come too, so it turned into a great family affair.

Planning the party was easy, it was setting up for it that proved to be a little challenging. With a very active Brody in tow, I managed to pick up the cake a balloon bouquet, and decorate at the restaurant (thank goodness for Gerber Yogurt Melts and toy cars....certainly kept Brody occupied while I tried to work some magic getting things ready for Mike's arrival).

Our friends arrived and now we just had to wait for Mike to show. Brody and I met him out front of an insanely packed restaurant, and we headed back to the patio for the SURPRISE!

Mike's arrival...I think that this is him asking me
"Why didn't you tell me to dress up?"
(he was wearing gym clothes)
